The RACE© process follows a fixed schedule (depending on the type of program; RACE Sprint, RACE Lite RACE Accelerator) consisting of several building phases.
These phases are each closed with a so-called Stage gate, this is a go/no go moment between a project team and their investor.

A structured innovation process to continuously (in)validate with customers whether we are making the right product or service.
It follows a fixed schedule (depending on the type of program; RACE Sprint, RACE Lite RACE Accelerator) consisting of several building phases.
These phases are each closed with a so-called Stage gate, this is a go/no go moment between a project team and their investor.
Depending on the complexity of a project, you start with one of the types of RACE programs.
The RACE Sprint only takes one week to complete.
RACE Lite follows 3 months, where the RACE Accelerator requires 6 months.

What methods are used & why?
It is a convergence of 4 previously independent methodologies.
That is to say from Service Design (or Design Thinking), Lean Startup, Agile/SCRUM and Business Modeling.
The RACE Innovation Methodology brings these together in such a way that it is a marriage in which the best comes into its own at the right time.
What is the process like?
It follows a fixed schedule (depending on the type of program; RACE Sprint, RACE Lite RACE Accelerator) consisting of several research and building phases.
These phases are each closed with a so-called Stage gate, this is a go/no go moment between a project team and their sponsor.
Depending on the complexity of a project, you start with one of the types of RACE programs.
The RACE Sprint only takes one week to complete.
RACE Lite follows 3 months, where the RACE Accelerator requires 6 months.
Within these pressure cooker programs, the project team goes through different phases to get from idea to concrete validated solution that is ready for implementation and scaling up.
The programs consist in varying degrees of the following phases: Exploration, Problem, Solution, Business, Execute and Scale.
Exploration phase, is focused on getting the project, the research question and what is needed.
Problem phase, is the qualitative and quantitative mapping of the status quo.
What does the situation of the end user look like now and where can this be improved.
Solution phase, it is ideas for possible solutions to the problems or opportunities found in the Problem phase.
Then test it in the market.
Business phase, when validating a suitable solution in the Solution phase, it is important to investigate how the solution can be made workable and what the costs and benefits will be.
Execute phase, is building the solution after it has been fully worked out in the previous phase.
We are entering the market with this first working version of the solution, also known as MVP (minimum viable product).
Scale phase, after the success of the MVP now that the first paying customers have been brought in, it is important to scale up the revenue and possibly adjust the solution accordingly.
From here, it can be decided at any time to let the MVP lead its own life or to implement it in the existing business.
